National Advocacy Committee Conference on Ensureing Citizen’s Voice in Governance

On 12th October 2017, Abdul Hamid Darwesh, Program Director of Afghanistan Justice Organization (AJO) attended in one day conference on National Advocacy for Public Policy (NAC) initiated by Afghanistan Public Policy and Research Organization (APPRO) in  Intercontinental hotel. The conference was attended by representatives of around 40 other Civil Society Organization from Kabul and provinces.
The NAC for Public Policy was established in March 2015 to serve as a policy advocacy and information- sharing platform for good governance. Building on the expertise of its individual members, NAC strengthens its networks for capacity exchange among civil society organizations in Afghanistan through use of sub committees that includes access to justice and anti-corruption committees.
In the opening session, the Eexecutive Director of APPRO, Mr. Anil presented his organization’s structure, mission, objectives, activities and plans and a presentation on background and status of NAC, provincial advocacy committee (PAC) and district advocacy committees (DAC). Currently APPRO is leading the secretariat of NAC at national level and five other provinces.
During the conference, NAC elections took place and as a result of the elections, Mr. Ali Farhang – Head of Afghanistan Active Network Association elected as president of NAC and Mr. Ehsan Niazi as his deputy for one year.
