On 2nd November 2020, AJO’s program team visited Justice Directorate of Balkh province and met with Head of the Legal Aid provincial office. The purpose of this visit has been to conduct monitoring of the activities of the legal aid provdiers recruited by AJO under ADALAT project. During the meeting with Head of the legal aid provincial office was updated on the purpse of the visit and also discussed the activities of the legal aid providers and their effectiveness in providing legal aid to indigence particularly women and children.
AJO met the legal aid providers and discussed their activities, cases, coordination with other relevant organizations and shared necessary documents with them. AJO randomly picked cases represented and files were reviewed by the legal experts. Expert advice was provided to the legal aid providers specially on coordination with relevant organization in regards to cases referral. As the AJO team carried out the monitoring, it was obvious that the legal aid providers had carried out their activities and representation in accordance with the working guidelines.
